Beefeater
A dining table with a puzzle piece construction
Beefeater
A table where it is intended to share a good piece of meat with friends and family. Although it seems like a simple Scandinavian design the oval table is multiplex and constructed like a 3D puzzle. The Beefeater is entirely milled from thin sheets of wood where the legs also form ‘the rib’ supporting and upholding the tabletop. The twist in the base of the table make it asymmetric, creating the effect of an interesting object to look at from every angle.
Bertjan Pot
Bertjan Pot is a designer fascinated by materials and production processes. The Random Light (1999) is one of his best known designs. This is where the spark and his love for materials begun. A fascination for techniques, structures and patterns which can be found back in the Beefeater table. The curiosity of how things work and how objects are put together pose as an interesting challenge, exploring the boundaries of both design and function. Bertjan Pot designed the Beefeater table for Lensvelt. An ingenious table with a shape that does not seem quite right. The table is asymmetric with a base that can be assembled such as a 3D puzzle.
