Diederendirrix architecture & urbanism and Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe created the design for the Brightlands Smart Services Campus in Heerlen. A former office building from 1977 is now a breeding ground for education, research and entrepreneurship. The place for meeting and collaboration in the middle zone, (the floor between the first and second floor) is partially broken through, creating a double-height space. This space, the Forum, contains a large wooden stand that is generously filled with upholstered Made In The Workshop Chair. For the upholstery, shades of gray are mixed with shades of red. Here people can work with each other, debate and hold lectures. The glass walls offer a view of the surrounding spaces such as the meeting rooms and the restaurant.
