Zones Urbaines Sensibles: A Dynamic Workplace in Rotterdam
Architects Elma van Boxel and Kristian Koreman are the founders of the multidisciplinary design firm ZUS - Zones Urbaines Sensibles, based in Rotterdam. Since 2001 they have combined their expertise in architecture, urban planning and landscape design to create innovative and inspiring projects.
Their first collaboration with Lensvelt dates back to 2010 and resulted in 'Happy Sheep' for the Dutch pavilion of the World Expo in Shanghai.
Zones Urbaines Sensibles is housed in the Schieblock in Rotterdam, a building originally used as a squat. Van Boxel and Koreman transformed and adapted the building, keeping the original concrete material and making only minimal interventions to increase functionality. The result is a serene office garden, lavished with a jungle of plants. The studio offers a dynamic environment with diverse spaces for both relaxation and productivity. The Boring Task Chairs and upholstered Maarten Baas chairs by Lensvelt fit perfectly with the neutral workstations.
Recently, ZUS collaborated with Lensvelt to develop the Forum chair, an outdoor steel wire chair available in four standard colors. This chair reflects their commitment to functional and stylish design, which sets them apart in the world of architecture and design.
