Due to the success of many high-profile international exhibitions, the Drents Museum felt the need to expand. Architects Roelisse Schiphorst and Peter Bos of Sax Architecten were commissioned to fulfill this desire and succeeded in preserving the monumental value of the museum while giving it a contemporary look.
Lensvelt supplied various pieces of furniture from its own collection that contribute to the vision of placing old and new in a unique contrast. AVL Workbenches, Koker Chairs and Office Chairs in deep, bright colors contribute to the allure of the new multifunctional public space, where up to 500 people can gather today.
The Drents Museum is located in Assen, on the site of the former monastery Maria in Campis. The museum is known for its international exhibitions on archaeology, art from 1885-1935 and contemporary realism.
