The Bold Sofa
"Just like Lensvelt, I value expressiveness. Furniture should speak for itself." Says Stefan Scholten, who was approached by Hans Lensvelt to design a sofa. There were several conditions the designs had to meet.
The result had to be applicable, functional, durable and expressive, and it had to fit within the Lensvelt concept of outspoken furniture with a wink.
Just before the first corona outbreak, they began their collaboration on the complete sofa collection called Bold. Stefan Scholten: "I thought the Lensvelt collection could use some softening and organic shapes. Therefore, the Bold collection is about soft, friendly shapes that offer optimal comfort".
The Bold series is a compact sofa system. The four main elements correspond visually to each other. The two- and three-seater sofa with armrests, the settee with one armrest (available in a left and right-hand version), and an armchair and ottoman are all visually connected. At first glance, the furniture appears symmetrical, but when viewed in real-life, the asymmetrical shapes create an exciting experience in the room. For example, the seat of the 2-seater sofa is almond-shaped, and the back/armrest of the settee sofa gives you the feeling of being embraced by gentle and safe arms.
